Filler: how to increase the duration

You are currently viewing Filler: how to increase the duration

A question that can arise spontaneously to anyone who wants to undergo an aesthetic treatment, such as the filler in this case, is: how long does the result actually last? And what can I do to extend its duration?

First of all, it is good to explain that there are various types of fillers, each with a specific duration and each suitable for specific areas of the body.

Hyaluronic acid filler

Hyaluronic acid is a molecule that is already naturally present in our body with the function of hydrating and elasticizing our tissues. Its concentration gradually decreases over the years and it is precisely for this reason that mature skin appears much less toned and plump than younger skin, such as those of children. Hyaluronic acid fillers are therefore the ideal solution to correct small imperfections, mainly of the face, and last for about 8-12 months, the time of their natural resorption. In this way, in addition to providing hydration, hyaluronic acid helps to ensure a support structure for the skin, promotes wound healing and plays a fundamental role in skin renewal.

Filler with botulinum

Botox fillers contain a botulinum toxin, which causes a transient paralysis action of the muscles and relaxes the muscles, slowing down the aging process. It is mainly used to correct wrinkles and facial lines and the results last from 3 to 6 months based on the person’s facial expressions: the less accentuated and the longer they are maintained.

Lipofilling

This treatment involves the aspiration of a small amount of fat from a so-called “donor” area, and the subsequent re-insertion in the area to be corrected. Lipofilling treatments are mainly used to give volume to the buttocks, calves and breasts by correcting imperfections caused by age, excessive weight loss or continuous exposure to solar and artificial UV radiation. In this case, the “filler” is a substance naturally produced by the body, and since only a percentage of the adipose tissue is reabsorbed (30-40%), it can sometimes be considered a semi-permanent treatment offering a lasting and stable result over time.

Mesenchimal stem cell filler

A further solution is given by regenerative medicine. The stem cell filler can be used anywhere on the body for different treatments, including in filling fine and deep wrinkles. The new injected cells promote cell regeneration by colonizing and filling the affected area. The advantage of this innovative technique, in addition to the use of its own cells, is given by the improvement of the quality of the surrounding tissues which can last much longer: it is in fact the only filler that lasts as long as the life of the cell and therefore several years. The effectiveness of the treatment is subject to genetics, skin conditions, the person’s biological age and lifestyle. The best technique to date is called SEFFI and the SEFFILLER which is part of the SEFFILINE line is able to keep the cell clusters taken of good size thus avoiding necrosis of the mesenchymal stem cells and obtaining a greater regenerative effect.

Finally, it is fair to point out that the duration of the effect guaranteed by the fillers is heavily influenced by the patient’s lifestyle. Smoking, stress and exposure to UV rays and pollutants are the main enemies. This is why proper skin care, a healthy diet and the use of cosmetics with protective filters will improve the quality of your skin.
